R.C. Thompson (Iraq 7 [1940] p. 94) very tentatively suggests [at-ta]-gi--ma? “[I roa]med about and” on the basis of text no. 22 i 71. This restoration seems unlikely since the verb nagāšu does not occur in other reports of the first or fourth campaign.

The restoration follows Borger, BAL2 p. 78. Like text no. 34, this text combines the accounts of the first and fourth campaigns.

Cf. text no. 34 lines 12–13, which have URU.ḫi-rim-mu ù KUR ia-su-bi-gal-la-a-a KUR.el-li-pi ú-šal-pit-ma ú-ab-bit da-ád-me-šá “I smashed the city Ḫirimmu, the land of the Yasubigallians, (and) the land Ellipi, and I destroyed its settlements.” It is uncertain if one should restore ak-šudud at the beginning of line 6´. Moreover, there does not appear to be sufficient space at the beginning of line 7´ to restore KUR.el-li-pi “the land Ellipi.” [...] x-da-a-nu “[...d]ānu”: L.D. Levine (JCS 34 [1982] p. 39) suggests [KUR.É-ab-da]-da-a-nu “[the land Bīt-Abda]dānu.”

One expects nap-ḫar da-ád-me-šú “all of its settlements,” as it is in text no. 34 line 17, but this text has [nap]-ḫar da-ád-me-šú “[every] last one of its settlements.”

uš-bi-iʾ “I swept over”: Text no. 34 line 17 has ú-ab-bit “I destroyed.”

Based on text no. 34 lines 17–18, the translation assumes that the now-missing line(s) after i 18´ contained ḫur-šá-a-ni a-nar i-na GIŠ.TUKUL “mountains, I struck down with the sword.”

ik-šu-da ŠU.II-šú-un “their hands captured”: Or possibly iṣ-ba-tu-nim-ma “they captured and”; see text no. 35 line 14´. Cf. text no. 34 lines 34–35, which add e-ri-in-nu bi-re-tu id-du-šu-ma “they threw him into a neck-stock (and) fetters and.”

“gate”: This may be a mistake for .GAL “city gate”; see text no. 34 line 35.

it-ti a-su “with a bear”: Cf. text no. 34 line 36, which has da-bu-ú-ìš “like a bear”; E. Frahm (Sanherib p. 108) suggests that dabûiš should be translated in that text as “with a bear.” Esarhaddon (Leichty, RINAP 4 p. 18 Esarhaddon 1 iii 42) and Ashurbanipal (Borger, BIWA p. 62 Prism A viii 12–13) also record that they bound captive foreign rulers at the citadel gate with bears (as well as with dogs and pigs).

There is not enough room to restore .DINGIR.RA.KI.MEŠ “Babylonians” at the end of the line. Cf. text no. 34 line 36, which has re-ṣu-ut .DINGIR.RA.KI.MEŠ il-li-ku “who came to the aid of the Babylonians” in lieu of a-na re-[ṣu-ti-šu] il-li-ka “who had come to [his] (Šūzubu’s) a[id].”

URU.MEŠ-šú TUR.MEŠ “small(er) settlements of his”: Text no. 34 line 37 has URU.MEŠ TUR.MEŠ “small(er) settlements.”
