The Middle Assyrian corpus on TCMA are cattegorized following findspot. About half of the corpus of ca. 4,000 tablets derives from ancient Assur (mod. Qal'at Sherqat) and Kar-Tukulti-Ninurta (mod. Tulul ul-Aqar). The rest of the texts mostly were uncovered during excavations of smaller settlements. An overview of most of these sites can be found on the map.
