Foreword

The manuscript of the present volume was originally scheduled to be prepared by Dr. Watanabe alone. However, as she was unable to complete the manuscript by the required deadline, Professor Parpola undertook the completion of the manuscript so that the projected publication schedule could be more or less kept. The roles of the two editors in the preparation of the manuscript and their respective responsibilities for the final product are described in more detail in the Preface to the volume.
