Vocabulary: verbs

Verbs describe actions, events, and states of being. This list of verbs only includes the words used in our Cuneiform exercises and Texts to read pages. It is no substitute for a good Akkadian dictionary.

  • abārum, G-stem "to embrace" (i/i); D-stem "to denounce"
  • agārum, "to hire, to rent" (a/u)
  • ahāzum, "to take in marriage" (a/u)
  • akālum, "to eat" (a/u)
  • alākum, "to go" (irregular)

  • ana šīmtim alākum, "to die a natural death" (literally, "to go to fate")
