1These signs could be interpreted as [ni]-in-da--[e] “[ni]ndab[û]-offerings,” or as [m]in-da-bi-[bi] “[I]ndabi[bi],” a servant of the Elamite king Tammarītu who deposed him and assumed the throne during Ashurbanipal’s reign (see, for example, Novotny and Jeffers, RINAP 5/1 p. 75 Asb. 3 [Prism B] vii 41–42).

2H. Winckler (OLZ 1 [1898] col. 70) read this line as [].kal-da-ai for “[C]haldeans”; however, R. Borger (BIWA 8o-Heft p. 167) stated that the traces before da are not kal. Because of damage to the tablet, it is difficult to ascertain exactly what signs are before da, but the traces do not appear to exclude the present reading.
