1The declaration that the goddess Lady of Arbela sent the Assyrian king favorable messages is reminiscent of Esarhaddon’s oracle collections (see Parpola, SAA 9 pp. 4–27 nos. 1–3).
2tu-ni?-iḫ-ma “pacified and”: CAD N/1 (p. 149 sub nâhu A 5.a) read the signs as tu-ni-iḫ-ma “pacified and,” but CAD S (p. 35 sub saḫāpu 4.a) instead construed them as tu-sa-aḫ-ḫap “lays flat (and).” The second sign appears to have three vertical strokes for SA, but the final stroke slants away from the first two and does not seem to have a clear head for the wedge (compare the SA sign of rev. 2, which also appears to have an additional, extraneous vertical stroke). Thus, the sign is interpreted here as NI rather than SA. This reading is buttressed by the fact that the final sign has three horizontal wedges, making a reading ḫap (the LAGAB sign) rather than ma difficult.
3There appears to be a scribal notation in the left margin next to this line of the tablet, but due to damage it is unclear what the sign is or what it is meant to indicate.
