Shalmaneser III 030

(1) [Palace of Shalmaneser (III), king of] all of the people, ruler, vice-regent of (the god) Aššur, [son of Ashurnasirpal (II), appointee of the god Enlil (and) vice-regent of] (the god) Aššur, son of Tukultī-Ninurta (II), (who was) [also] appointee of the god Enlil [(and) vice-regent of (the god) Aššur];

(3b) [the desired one of the gods], the chosen of the god Enlil, [the splendid vice-regent of (the god) Aššur], the attentive ruler who frequents (5) [the shrines of the gods] inside Ešarra, the one who has seen remote [and rugged] regions (and) who has trodden upon the mountain peaks in the highlands, [the receiver of booty (and)] tax from all (four) quarters (of the world), the one who opens [paths] above and below, the strong male who treads upon [the necks of] his foes, the who breaks up the forces of the rebellious, (10) [the trampler of] all of his enemies, the valiant man who with the support of (the god) Aššur, [his lord, has] put all of [the lands] under his feet like a footstool;

(12b) the conqueror of the Sea of the Naʾiri land(s) (and) the Sea of the Setting which is also called (lit. “and”) the Sea of the land Amurru.

(14) I conquered [from the land En]zi, as far as the lands Daiaeni (and) Suḫnu, (15) [as far as the city] Arṣaškun, the royal city of Arrāmu of the land Urarṭu, (and) the land Gilzānu, the land Ḫubuškia, (and) the wide [land ...]. I imposed upon them tribute, tax, [(and) gifts].

(18b) In my fifteenth regnal year, I crossed [the Euphrates River for the twelfth time. I gained dominion] over the land Ḫatti to its full extent. I deported (20) Aḫūnu of (Bīt-)Adini (lit. “son of Adinu”), together with his troops, his gods, (and) [the possessions of] his palace, (and) counted them among my people.

(22) [At that time], Irḫulena of the land Hamath (and) Hadad-ezer (Adda-idrī) of Damascus, together with twelve kings along the seashore [and the banks of] the Euphrates River, trusting in their combined forces, (25) attacked me to wage war and strife. [By the command of (the god) Aš]šur, my lord, I fought with them (and) defeated them [from the city Qar]qar to the city Gilzau (Dilzau).

(28b) I marched to the land Karduniaš (Babylonia). I marched to Babylon, [Bor]sippa, and Cutha, (and) (30) [made] sacrifices. I went down to Chaldea (and) [gained dominion] over Chaldea to its full extent. In Babylon, I received the payment of the kings of Chaldea, as far as the sea.

(32b) Šamaš-bēlu-uṣur, [the governor of] the city Kalḫu, installed forever this threshold in the palace of Shalmaneser (III), king of Assyria, [his lord].
