(1) Ashurnasirpal (II), great king, strong king, king of the world, king of Assyria, son of Tukultī-Ninurta (II), great king, strong king, king of the world, king of Assyria, son of Adad-nārārī (II), (who was) also great king, strong king, king of the world, king of Assyria; valiant man who acts with the support of (the god) Aššur, his lord, and has no rival among the rulers of the four quarters (of the world), the king who subdued (the territory stretching) from the opposite bank of the Tigris River to Mount Lebanon and the Great Sea, the land Lāqê, in its entirety, (and) the land Sūḫu, including the city Rapiqu.

(10b) I brought within the boundaries of my land (the territory stretching) from the source of the River Subnat River to the passes of the land Ḫabruri (and) to the land Gilzānu, from the opposite bank of the Lower Zab to the city Tīl-Bāri, which is upstream from the land Zabban, from the city Tīl-ša-Abtāni to the city Tīl-ša-Zabdāni, (and) the cities Ḫirimmu (and) Ḫarutu, (which are) fortresses of Karduniaš (Babylonia). Moreover, I gained dominion over the wide Naʾiri lands, to their (text: its) full extent.

(21b) I reorganized this city (and) named it Imgur-Enlil. I founded this temple in the environs of my palace. I placed therein a statue of the god Mamu, my lord. I marched to Mount Lebanon (and) cut down beams of cedar, cypress, (and) daprānu-juniper. I made fast the cedar beams over this temple (and) constructed doors of cedar. I fastened (them) with bronze bands (and) installed (them) in its gates. I splendidly decorated this temple (and) made the god Mamu, the great lord, reside therein. I wrote out my commemorative inscription (and) deposited (it) in his temple.

(34b) O future ruler, one of the kings, my sons, whom (the god) Aššur will name, (when) this temple becomes dilapidated, see and read my commemorative inscription, renovate its (the temple’s) dilapidated section(s), write your name with my name, (and) return (it) to its place so that (the god) Aššur, the lord, the ruler, (and) the god Mamu, the one who dwells in this temple, may look steadfastly upon him with their eyes (and) establish his name (and) his seed in their land.

(41) As for the one who sees my commemorative inscription and says, “What is this?”: may the goddess Ištar, lady of battle and conflict, smash his weapons (and) take away from him his throne.

(44b) As for the one who sees my commemorative inscription, reads (it), anoints (it) with oil, makes an offering, (and) returns (it) to its place, (the god) Aššur, the great lord, will (then) listen to his prayers (and) will make him achieve success in wars with kings on the battlefield.
