'Write your name in cuneiform' sign lists

These sign lists can be used to run a 'write your name in cuneiform' activity that introduces participants to cuneiform writing. The only materials additional needed are plasticine or modelling clay and disposable chopsticks. See the Cuneiform Revealed website for more information on running a cuneiform writing activity, and a video of cuneiform writing in action.

Cuneiform sign lists are provided below in Neo-Assyrian TT  and Old Babylonian scripts.

Information sheet on cuneiform writing PDF (891 KB) – 2 A5 size leaflets on an A4 page.

Many of these resources were created for our Discovering Ancient Assyria event at the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge in October 2013. Cuneiform sign lists by Eleanor Robson. Drawings by Ruth Horry.
