Ur Shrine List Extracts A, B, C

A list of shrines is attested by these three Neo- or Late Babylonian exercise tablets found at Ur. Although we cannot be certain, the reference to the "Pure Sanctum," a known part of the temple complex of Sîn and Ningal, points to Ur as the topographical context dealt with and particularly to the Ekišnugal, the sanctuary of the Moon God, as the cult-center in and around which the small religious structures described in these lists were once located.
